Meta nearly died as a company. Instagram is what kept it afloat, not Facebook. It’s designed to market products, surveil users and harvest data, and increasingly to sandbox dissent into ineffectual performance. Let it die.

Lincoln is broadly correct here (as per usual). One note of optimism for reading I rarely see referenced is just how healthy Project Gutenberg is. These are serious numbers for Austen, Melville, Shelley, Eliot, Shakespeare. Six figures a month! Millions of people reading these free copies a year!
