California does have a fire problem. It's been a cool summer but we had a brownout and high 80s F today. But the fire problem is mostly on land owned by the federal government. I also blame PG&E.

Without calling for blue state secession, I will say this: I think we either find a way to get rid of the Electoral College and the other baked in aspects of our constitutional system that give rabid white Christians disproportionate power, or the country will inevitably split at some point
