It’s so easy to assess and then reassess for progress. Takes a couple of minutes to get with wpm. I also think echo reading is under-used. I love the confidence it brings - anecdotal from me, but I’m convinced it supported improved fluency.

Agree with this as well. I think the importance of fluency is not well explained in teacher training (at least not in mine) and many schools are ignorant of it. I am eternally grateful to @suchmo83.bsky.social for opening my eyes to it. (This is why I am somewhat sympathetic to something statutory).

💯 agreement with the second part of that. At Y8, I think it will also be about fluency (as well as vocabulary and knowledge) for many kids but I think we need to try to fix the issues with dysfluency earlier.
