Trying to learn #watercolor. So fun, but so hard without natural talent. Made this account to post my paintings so I don't annoy the followers on my main account.

I think today is the day. Looking very painterly to me! And no doubt the look will evolve if you continue to paint it. But for now, well done!

That's impressive!!! I did not know you were doing onsite so quickly. If I am reading this right, from the small lighthouse area? Either way, onsite for a few hours or two days, I could never achieve what you are doing & the progress since I found on the other place long ago.

You are so close to breaking through. Watercolour is such a high wire act; oil affords many opportunities to rework. I remember being hung up imagining every work hanging in a gallery. Now I mark the pristine paper ASAP, warm it with a wash, and mix more pigment. I slow down and enjoy the process

Show PostForgive me the unauthorised copy, but have you considered squinting your eyes if painting en plein air, or desaturating and increasing the contrast on your reference photo? A monochrome underpainting or study helps enormously
