Going to do a reading of this book doing the sweating bullets voice the whole time
Show PostYou don't need to spend money on new pickups. Unless you're going for something radically different it's not worth it. If you buy a guitar with passive humbuckers switching them out for Seymour Duncan passive humbuckers isn't gonna magically transform your tone.
Show PostThere's this gearhead thing among some guitarists that replacing stock pickups with branded pickups (Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio, Bare Knuckle) is always an upgrade and that's just not the case. If you wanna improve your tone there are a thousand better steps to take first.
Show PostAlso gentle reminder that a guitar is not a car, and music is not a sport. There is no such thing as an objectively better pickup. It's all subjective. So if you think the stock pickup in your €99 guitar sounds better than a Seymour Duncan that's a completely valid opinion.
