I’m laughing my ass off oh my God this whips
Show PostIt’s just the thing going on is probably “mixed web of weird abusive scams” not “Holmes is a victim of circumstance”
Show PostSome of what makes this film great is somewhat unintentional. Fielder is a world renowned con artist letting himself get taken in by another famous con artist! Also it’s not like there’s nothing there! Her husband is clearly psychotic! Clearly much more going on than they are able to uncover.
Show PostSo the fact he is asking the questions is what makes it interesting. There are times in the film where Fielder knows she is lying to him. He basically calls her on it. At one point, he tells a collaborator that he doesn’t want to “get got” by her. But he kinda does! He wants to believe there’s more!
Show PostFielders claim to fame is that he’s a terminal manipulator and serial liar. He is constantly bullshitting his subjects in “Nathan for You” / “The Rehearsal”. He plays a character, and even though you know it, you sometimes question whether there is a reflection of “the real Nathan” anywhere.
