Today my wife and I chose to empty a piñata went had for 7 years instead of breaking it. They don't make em this adorable anymore. Only 40 pieces of candy for inside. She'll have a home. Our small bit of compassion for today. Yes I'm anthropomorphisizing and I don't care.

"Y'all," like "folks" is something you can use to address a group without annoying anyone (except op, apparently), and without having to give it any thought. If you can't stand it, then certainly feel free to go with "Dear Members of the 10 Am Tai Chi class at the Senior Center" or what have you.
