I've been wanting this ever since he was removed, Apu is too fleshed out and complete of a character to just throw away. I'd almost argue he has the most depth of all Simpsons characters.

This may be TMI but being high and seeing slop... "move" in AI is mildly horrifying. The uncanny valley is absolutely JARRING in a way I can't quite form words on. Watching TV during this had made me acutely aware of AI ads now and EEEEUUUUGGGHHHH. I hated it before, but it legit squicks me out now

I've seen a little, and it's the usual half-baked "why recast at all?" bad faith stuff that has been repeated for a decade now, and at its root is a general stance against progress or nuance that it's pretty crummy

Like a great episode of Simpsons, it left me with many thoughts. I look forward to hearing good-faith responses to this ep, and Apu and Manjula's return. I want to listen to the thoughts from South Asian and other voices on this, if they feel like it addresses Apu well after all this time
