We have the power and (I would argue) the moral duty to make "former ICE officer" the lowest status in American culture. Put it right up there with convicted sex offender (with which there will be substantial overlap). It should haunt them.

Amazingly, the 10th Circuit said it was not. The case was denied at the Supreme Court as moot because he's since been deported, but Sotomayor (joined by Gorsuch) put out this statement basically saying "if this particular scenario comes up again, come on guys, it's clearly double jeopardy."

Fascinating Sotomayor + Gorsuch statement yesterday respecting the denial of cert in a case in which a man was arrested and convicted of being present in the US after illegal reentry, put on supervised release and ordered not to leave the state, then arrested and convicted AGAIN of the same offense.
