[quietly] I don't even really understand HOW people are using AI to do their journalism? I use otter to auto-transcribe while recording and STILL end up listening back to all my interviews and re-transcribing the highlights because I need to internalize what was said to form a coherent conclusion.

I followed everybody in this thread that was appropriately critical of this gentleman. Somebody should create an AI is shit starter kit with all of us commenters. Moving beads on an abacus does not make you an author

I have followed you for many years John, here and elsewhere. I am so disappointed. Watching the use of AI destroy the quality of university education for both my younger kids has been devastating for me, and if people like you join in, I can’t see how we ever get a culture of learning back.
