The bigger issue isn't that a single regent can damage the UC's reputation. It's that the UC Regents system is designed to reward donors and political allies, not steward UC's mission. It would be nice if Newsom appointed ppl who value all of UC's communities. But nothing requires it. Huge problem.

This was a powerful example of interdisciplinary methodology: combining qualitative analysis of testimonies of border violence with spatial-temporal mapping of border infrastructure, with great statistical modeling with @spatiosam.bsky.social
