For >50 yrs, I was unaffiliated & carefully weighed candidates. After the past 12 yrs, the "mental shortcut" is obvious. No one who retains an R by their name deserves consideration. e.g., local school board candidate (R) says "I won't bring my politics to meetings"? Nope. EVERY R owns this mess.
