Having lived next door to seniors who were unable to pay their property taxes (and I live in a *very* low col city), that meant they were also too poor to actually keep their house livable or themselves safely cared for. If you can't afford property tax, it might be time to stop owning a home.

We can talk about Senior Property Tax Freezes and Disabled Veteran waivers and the like (e.g. Sen Duckworth), but the idea that seniors should pay $0 in property taxes just because they paid off a mortgage is nonsense
