Just read Save Our Souls by Matthew Pearl, which recounts the Wandering Minstrel shipwreck and the struggle of its crew to survive. Mostly adults, but otherwise echoed Lord of the Flies in many respects

For today’s #LayoverLibrary, I’m reading ‘Save Our Souls’ by @matthewpearlauthor.bsky.social. The book tells the harrowing story of the ‘Wandering Minstrel’, a sharking vessel which ran aground at Midway, leaving its crew trapped with a murderer on the island.

They’re very similar in drama and suspense, while being dramatically different stories. Save our Souls jumps around a bit more to provide exposition on the secondary characters that become main characters. They’re both very good books.
