For what it's worth, life has been miserable for a number of reasons and as someone who's been struggling through things you guys mention on stream, I find it cathartic. I understand wanting to escape so in a way I kinda empathize with the guy, but that shit isn't working for me anymore.

Well for one, I wouldn't say a lot of the shit they went through was very enjoyable. I can't read their minds and don't wanna intrude into heir personal lives more than they talk about it, but it's entirely possible those days used to be escapism as well.
