As another victim: No it doesn't make it less reprehensible but we can't live in a society where punishment for crimes are never ending. I've chosen to forgive and befriend my abuser. He's been one of the best people in my life now. The reality is people can be better if we let them.

As a survivor I think this is a pretty good response. I believe people can grow and move on. It was a long time ago and young people can make terrible decisions. I hope for the sake of the victim this blows over and their privacy can remain. This going public is particularly unfair to them.

I see what you're trying to say, but I want you to think about just how weird people are on the internet, specifically about their parasocial relationships with microcelebrities, and how even that level of front-loaded admission would lead to people outing the victim.

While that would have been ideal You have to take into account the fact that the victim didn't want it to go public
