You know what’s neat is there’s some kind of engine or methodology for getting Atari ST games to run on Jaguar. This is a pre-Ai thing where there are about 20 games ported over, like Stunt Car Racer, Gauntlet 2, Badlands… Tbh Stunt Car Racer off the ST is probably the best racer on the system
Show PostIt sounds like something that could be solved by regrouping and making a forum more around studying old games than releasing ports. Like the port is the end product but the meat is in the discovery.
Show PostBut I could see a forum being absolutely flooded with all these new LLM driven attempts. There’s some really wild stuff going on though like Daytona 32x, the kind of thing that takes some actual engineering direction.
Show PostIt sounds to me like using LLMs is more of a “hey I got this to run on the Genesis” thing and not “I really want to understand this game” thing. Like for me it’s valued about the same as “I got this to run on an FPGA”.
Show PostYeah the thing for me is that it’s really great to have a decomp which with variables properly labeled, structured properly, etc. Are the LLM recomps more like: use the original logic, translate I/O routines and memory addresses
