☛ Paid my County and Poor tax yesterday to Charles Fraser, Mount Thom, and the amounted to $12 all to a trifle, and then $4.20 to for local school and also $4 for Road work — that is too bad 10 or 12 years ago I only paid $6. in full. /2

#JamesBarryDiary 22/7/1876 A very beautiful day indeed - not extra warm, and some clouds betimes. I was sawing shingles in spells. John Grant put in the back door towards the well. Water a little better to day - not much. /1

#JamesBarryDiary 21/7/1876 Something dark all day and raining some pretty good showers after dinner but not enough to raise the water perceptibly. I washed my self all over to day and I felt a great deal the better of it. John Grant went off to get the drill at 8 Mile Brook this afternoon.
