A central error of Van der Kolk is the same one Michael and Peter are making during this episode IMO—which is doing this “either/or” thinking. Like either you endorse equine therapy or you support psych meds, etc. In truth, those who actually pay attention to this space tend to favor options/choice.

In general, I am annoyed at the effort to mock mental health alternatives during this episode—many of which are very promising (if you have the awareness to look beyond the American perspective, which is heavily influenced by the DSM still). I look forward to Hobbes reckoning with the DSM someday.
