We’ve found the libertarians. They want all of the benefits of society, they just don’t want to pay for it. They’re housecats. I*do* think that property tax assessments should freeze when you turn 65. I also think that income and wealth taxes are more fair than property taxes.

Most people aren’t deducting their mortgage interest these days because the rework of the standard deduction means it’s almost always not worthwhile to do so.

But if you want to stay in your home or build generational wealth with your home and you are working class (e.g. teachers, other public employees, and even small business owners), the tax needs not to grow with market value. Otherwise we loose affordable housing. Rentals as well.
