I knew Elisabeth Elliot. Not well, but enough to be acquaintances. We attended the same Episcopal church (where I was a seminarian ministry intern). She enjoyed my sermons and told me so, noting improvement over time. 1/2 ⚓
Show Post2/2 ⚓ She was kind. She was my boss’ close friend, and a few times a year she would bring high tea to the office, complete with fine china and cress sandwiches on three level platters. She was incredibly proper, not at all what you might expect from someone who once lived in the jungle.
Show PostI posted earlier because I’d forgotten about the “Souls to the Polls” announcement last Sunday, but was reminded when somebody brought it up and said how confused they were by it. I am really frustrated by feeling like I’m limited in what feedback it’s safe for me to give. Thus, the saltiness. ⚓️
Show PostThis is neither of these things. If you’re going to announce that your church is participating in a named, organized initiative, then do the things that initiative asks you to do. Alternately, maybe go to the voting-related page of your National church, and follow the guidance there?
Show PostI think a good place to start would be to make sure you understand what the purpose of “Souls to the Polls” is, historically and now, and work towards supporting those efforts. Another would be to identify the voting related challenges & needs within your community, and attempt to make an impact.
