In Stone Age Denmark nearly 5,000 years ago, people carved motifs of suns and crops on small discs, then buried them in ditches. Scientists now suspect that these "sun stones" were part of a ritual—a type of sacrifice in response to climate disruption caused by a powerful volcanic eruption 🧪

For #FossilFriday meet Fletcheriana triassica - this is a ~245 million year old extinct relative of the cicadas. This fossil is ~8 cm long, and its body was covered with bristles in life. It probably fed on fluids from plants as living cicadas do. ⚒️🧪🦀🦑 #evosky
