#AScareADay Day 18: The Red Crown by Mikhail Bulgakov (1922) Today's story takes us back to our theme of vows. Somewhat gruesome and entirely heartbreaking.
Show PostI keep letting myself get behind on posting about #AScareADay. Sorry! I am reading them on the day and love reading other people's thoughts. The 16th was Rabindranath Tagore and his tale 'The Lost Jewels'. It took me a while to decide what I thought about this one.
Show PostYesterday for #AScareADay we read Ellen Glasgow's 'The Past'. I enjoyed this one a lot. I love the narrator's voice - the secretary who gets caught up in someone else's haunting. I love her practicality and sharp edges compared to the victimised second wife's softness.
Show PostGlasgow #AScareADay We can't return to the past, but the past can come to haunt us in the present. The solution for righting past wrongs? It's not reciprocal hatred. Rather, it's extending love & truth in the here & now that makes the past disappear because its power--its hatred--is removed.
Show Post#AScareADay Day 17: The Past by Ellen Glasgow (1920) Can the past become a literal haunting if we spend too long brooding over it? I liked this and I quite liked the way Mrs. Vanderbridge choose to deal with it. Acceptance and letting go are sometimes the best course.
