There sure are some spectacular insects out there! This Golden-bloomed Grey Longhorn Beetle (Agapanthia villosoviridescens) was chilling atop a thistle in Alby with Thwaite last week. Adults feast on nettles and umbellifers, including Cow Parsley and Hogweed. @norfolknats.bsky.social

Adult Nursery Web spiders, in their various patterns and colours, can be seen throughout the UK at present. They live in a variety of habitats but perhaps the best place to find them is amongst banks of bramble, nettles and other tall plants. Later, watch out for females carrying their egg sacs.

Thanks Wayne. Someone else has sent me some photos so no worries but may have space to include others if you find them.

Found a magnificent stand of Caucasian Comfrey (new to VC32) yesterday while surveying a churchyard in Etton, its clear blue flowers attracting a whole range of pollinators. The caterpillar of a Scarlet Tiger moth was also enjoying the bristly leaves! #wildflowerhour @bsbibotany.bsky.social

I’m still getting used to the 2x #Laowa 100mm macro. It’s ok for invertebrates that are happy to sit and pose. With little depth of field & a relatively narrow field of view, it is very hard to track & focus on running spp. Practising on #ants in the garden! Lasius niger #macrophotography
