I was a co author of FairPlay’s Call for a Pause on AI in PreK-12 and have been actively trying to push back on AI use in SPS. We’re planning a rally at JSCEE on Nov 4! Before their special board meeting on EdTech and AI.

Yeah I emailed the district as well. Charitably he's attending this "summit" as a skeptical / critical voice (there are others on the speaker list that I can't imagine they are there on the hype train) but it is still SIGH.

My neighborhood school is in an affluent neighborhood. PTA parents see their mission as convincing families to choose public over private. Public is the right choice! But many of us don't have a choice at all. It's public school or nothing. #Seattle #SPS

I would also note this affluent neighborhood school is not on the rumored school consolidation list despite only having ~200 students and no specialized services. #Seattle #SPS
