You see the catch-22 here: They need it to work as they say it can to survive, but if it does, it disrupts the entire system upon which they depend. They've created an ouroboros, a closed loop eating itself, and there's no clear way out. The infuriating thing is that we'll all pay the price. 4/4

So they NEED AI to work, and yet, it can't if they want to survive. Because if AI could actually do what they say it can do–which, again, it can't–it would mean that entire industries, products, and services become obsolete. No longer needed: AI will replace them. 3/x

Something I never see discussed is that yes, we know LLMs can not do a fraction of what the big AI companies pretend they can do, but more than that, these companies literally *can not allow AI to do what they pretend it can do* if they want to survive. 1/x

These companies are the product of late-stage capitalism & their existence wholly hinges on the philosophy of constant, unending growth. But the tech sector has been entirely captured by AI, because Silicon Valley has not innovated anything genuinely new & transformative in two decades. 2/x
