I couldn’t bring myself to tell them and just let them get on with it. But this has always stuck in my mind whenever I hear people banging on about one compressor or reverb over another. I’m convinced that there’s barely any audible difference between them. They look way different bough.

All the time I was thinking wow I can’t even hear a difference what a great ear they must have. Anyway after 15 minutes or so, I saw it was set on a preset and the manual controls were doing nothing…
