Thank you for this! I am reminded of a mentor who once gently noted that I was hardly alone among STEM types in stating as categorical truths things that were really just my view given my experience.

The tricky thing is recognizing that it well might be for that person even if it has very little effects on others!
Show PostYeah, this whole thing can be pretty surreal tbh. I've accepted by now that somebody testifying to a revolutionary new tool has to be compartmentalized, because what counts as revolutionary for a lot of people to me is completely optional for anything I do.

Show PostMost of the times that I try to transfer these sorts of heuristics or whatever we'd like to call them (dispositions?) to my own work, I don't find there's much room for that kind of change, either at the tool or product levels. Much slower, more entangled with other processes, and often unnecessary.
