I like the idea I’ve seen/heard that argues for “AI as normal technology”. It’s useful for some things, not useful for most other things, just like every other tech before. The weirdness comes when thinking AI is some sort of productivity button you can press infinity times

Most likely that was already done, but then senior leadership didn't see the millions of dollars they spent on the tools translate into millions of dollars of increased productivity so they blame the people using the tools rather than the company who sold them on false promises

Exactly this. Give THE PEOPLE ACTUALLY DOING THE WORK the tools and see if they find benefits and use-cases.
