This is how I feel about the people who hate Digger (source: @ultimatemoviebuff on instagram)

Now having seen Digger I find the bad and ambivalent reviews utterly depressing. It's so good it's like a 2025 movie, a year of great, weird films. I wonder if the response is like that to Don't Look Up--which was funny and smart and very good. Digger is Brazil to Don't Look Up's Dr Strangelove.

Okay I get that Digger is maybe not a crowd pleaser, but I'm a little baffled by the bad reviews and historically bad box office. It's way more compelling than it is frustrating!

Contrary bastard I am, I just posted my spoiler-free review for the excellent DIGGER, featuring an excellent Tom Cruise. tremblesighwonder.com/2026/10/11/7...

I saw Digger and I can honestly say I have never loved a movie this much that I hated for a good bit of its runtime. It takes huge swings in form and content and ideas, and it nails the ending so hard that it finally just works. And say what you will about Cruise, but he's fucking terrific here.
