Unsolicited writing advice, no. 23: Dialogue tags and adverbs slow dialogue down, and draw attention to *how* something is said, rather that *what.* Which doesn't mean don't ever use them; just be aware of how it works.

Many thanks for recommending ‘Naming the Dead’ on Disney+. I’ve seen three episodes so far and it’s very moving: both the unstinting commitment of the @dnadoeproject.bsky.social team and the closure brought to families of those missing.
