The only buffer zone that Russia and its North Korean, Iranian, and Chinese allies deserve, so they can finally feel safe and stop worrying about NATO encroachment. Belarus should also be added to such a DMZ in its entirety.

They are serious, serious about garnering votes, they represent an electorate filled with people who dig folks like Mladić and consider him a hero. Also, many of those same politicians were also in power during the Yugoslav wars - what we elected here in 2012 is a rearranged Milošević government.

People who shout that Ukraine should simply give up its territories and “live under Russian occupation” as if it’s no big deal have clearly never had to give up their freedom. They’ve likely never lived under occupation or experienced what it truly means to lose your freedom.
