@nerdbeeren.bsky.socialAs a send-off we had ramen at Narita airport: tonkotsu from an offspring of ippudo, one of the most famous tonkotsu-chains. It was a good send-off. While it´s not on the level of Toride, it was a perfectly cromulent ramen and a nice end to this journey. Well, what can I say... Ramen is great!
Show PostThis as a spontanous one: I decided to walk from Sugamo to Otsuka and give this one a try. Menya Sawada serves a thick chicken paitan miso with a skewer of meat and delicious chicken-chashu. Also the color of the egg was absolutely lovely! Another winner in my book an one I would gladly have again.
Show PostOur friend Yuichi Ochi brought us to Toride in Shibuya - a tonkutsu-place he´s been frequenting for years. And I can see why. This was probably the best tonkotsu I had on the entire trip. Everything about this ramen was pitch-perfect. Basically the platonic ideal of an immaculate tonkotsu ramen.
Show PostI finally got some Kikanbo Ramen. The place was absolutely overrun by tourists during the weekend, but afterwards, it got better. It was very good as always, but I´ve probably gotten used to it now. The broth was very strong and the meat soft and tender though... but there were others I liked more.
Show PostThe next day I went to the other Ramen-place at Sugamo Station: Marue Chuka Soba. This was amazing. Thick, broad noodles, an amazing broth and some wonderfully juicy chashu made this an absolute winner. If I had the time, I would have definitely gone there again. Perfect after a long day of walking!
