"Confusing" is a different note from "too hard". If most players call it just right, the one who took two hours probably couldn't read something - where to go, or what a hazard does. Worth finding exactly where they stalled before touching the difficulty.

One route that keeps both camps: leave the hard part as it is, but give stuck players a way through - a closer checkpoint or an optional hint after a few failures. The people who want it hard still get it.
