idk. colorism and racism in fandom have been on my mind a lot recently and i'm starting to feel annoyed about stewing over these topics on my own so i will be speaking my mind for my own catharsis. and i am speaking generally but if you feel threatened reading this, maybe reflect on your life?

i always wonder what the point is. with regards to whitewashing, do people just not understand that this is racist? and with regards to creativity, do people not care about making their "original" characters appear even a bit original? as an aside, i always chuckle about that reylo novel cover

and sometimes the characters are whitewashed without meaningful recontextualization of their personality, appearance, or actions now that the once-poc are white or live in some bastardization of their original society

thinking abt reskins today. we all know abt the fic reskin challenge of how it can be hard to make people care abt reskinned ocs because fic starts with the premise that readers are already invested in the characters and you don't have to do the work of introducing them
