For my part, if it’s on arXiv it’s public and can be reported. Science say you can post on arXiv but prefer media wait, but there’s no obligation to do so on a reporter.

Sitting here having written ~$15,000 worth of stories that I turned in the drafts for months ago, one even as early as April, that I have still not been paid for 👍 It's on days like today that I really do wonder if this whole "freelance journalist" thing is going to work out.
