No, the work they do is not necessarily the same as the work of the small number of people you always quote. That's the point. It's not mathematics itself that's threatened. It's a certain way of doing it. You could try to look beyond that.

In my previous school, SLT were very keen on giving assemblies about the importance of attendance. They frequently overran into lesson time. My year 11s would turn up to period 1 5-10 mins late, and cheerfully proclaim "Sorry we're late, Miss. We were just being reminded that every lesson counts" 😅🙈
