Almost didn't post this thread for fear of catching shit for being a trans woman that was once on 4chan but I need you all to understand that everyone was on it in the 2000s including all the cis women and poc I was friends with. For several years it felt like the only honest place on the internet.

Now it's remembered as always having been a far right racist shithole of a website but I need everyone to understand that back then every website was a far right racist shithole but 4chan was the only place I remember you could be as mean as you needed to be to the right without catching a ban

It went from the website that was instrumental for lefty hacktivism against the right and the momentum that lead to OWS that scared the 1% so badly that Epstein personally compromised it to create /pol/ and make it a home for reactionaries that banned people (👏) for talking about Gaza overnight

The OLD olds remember that 4chan was full of libs that despised republicans and lefties that talked about communism constantly but by 2010 the site had gone all in on freeze peach and within a year I stopped going to /m/ or /cgl/ because they refused to do anything about the Nazis that colonized it
