The rise of in-car navigation like Google Maps has actually done a fair amount of damage to cities imo, because it puts a lot of traffic on streets that were never designed for it, because the navigation systems were built on concentrating traffic to arterials with local traffic only elsewhere.
Show PostAn underrated element in these comments is "Routes were heavily centered on arterials." You would know how to navigate to your nearest arterial; it would take you to the direction you needed to go, after which you'd go east a while, then north a while, etc. The routes were less direct, but simpler.

Ready for the game, having completely changed everything from game 1. Different dinner. Different pajamas. Different side of the couch. As is my solemn duty. #RedSox
