my one big takeaway from this years pile of Showcases is that Unreal Engine 5 has co-opted or sort of, I dare say, polluted the visual language of games, where nothing stands out theres a kind of mediocrity that comes with being "photorealistic I guess". PBR substance everywhere, but not distinct

I redid my water shader recently and I'm pleased with the result! The way the stars reflect and sparkle on the water's surface is my favorite part #gamedev #shaders
