The next anticipated surge in +ve AAM is now kicking into gear with the GWO expected to orbit back into high AAM phases. Genuinely growing concerned what this could mean in terms of heatwaves & extreme heat for NW Europe during July. The next “heat dome” is already coming into view on models.

The gap between years with June temperatures reaching 20°C at 850 hPa in the UK has dramatically narrowed, based on reanalysis from 1836 to 2026 at Eastbourne. The balance looks to have been tipped - gaps of 20 years reduced to 4 and happening 3 times within less than a decade.

The intensity of heat on Wednesday is definitely going to feel worse than 40C in 2022. Back then we had very low relative humidity and more of a breeze. Heat index expecting in low 40s °C this is serious heat which can be life threatening ⚠️ make sure to check on elderly ect #London #weatheraware

I’ve never seen such high overnight temperatures modelled. It looks like we’ll be transported to Jarkata in SE Asia, incredibly oppressive. The warmest minimum temperature of all-time at #London Heathrow is 22.6C set on 20 July 2016 the Euro has 27C on Thursday morning. Out of this world. (1/2)
