Not plot, length or obscure references. A complex mind overthinks life’s meanings and gives in to pursuing tangents that others shy away from. It can lead down convoluted corridors. Or can be more literary accessible. But it must stray from conventional fiction.

FWIW, reading the various replies and--in the context of the podcast episode from which it emerges--the focus is very much on data as rent, eg that extracted by EdTech, esp from students. So it's really not a digital vs print book thing and there are zero illusions abt print being outside capitalism
