For some reason (I know all the reasons), this quote keeps circling in my head. As a collective, we’re encouraged to treat other living beings as things. And it’s beginning to rot a lot of souls. Kindness and empathy are radical, rebellious notions in this ethos. Be radical.

with the homeless shelter a few blocks away, perpetually struggling for funding. The sermon last Sunday focused on tithing, on ensuring the church coffers remained full. She hadn't heard a word about the actual Gospel, the radical message of love and compassion for the marginalized, for weeks.
