"Kinda sucks." It isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I've never seen a Canadian set up a GoFundMe for cancer treatment. Perfect? Hell no. But it's still pretty damn good.

there is no world in which socialized medicine doesn’t create better health outcomes, even if it’s an imperfect and problematic system, at least it’s not actively killing people for profit by coldly denying them the care they paid for in good faith, all so shareholders get an extra percentage bump

then, you don’t even get to argue with the hospital over what procedure or medication you can get access to, that’s all handled by what your insurance provider is willing to pay in accordance with the tier of coverage you have, because if you pay more, they *might* be willing to treat your ailments

also, and I know this is not the point, but knowing a few Americans who have died from the American healthcare system IRL: our healthcare system is objectively worse. if you can’t afford good insurance, you don’t get care. if you can’t afford insurance, you die. we rely on GoFundMe. buy a clue.
