More generally I think a lot of things people miss is YOU have to take the first step, nobody will come to you and hand you everything you need on a silver platter without asking for it first I found out this scene existed by dming a random person I had just met "yo you play splatoon hru"

Which might be the difference? I tend to approach things as "surely it has to be x bc it would be silly if y was true" specifically for problem solving my way through unfamiliar territory

Personally when I started I just approached it as a "fuck it we ball" mentality - the only way to learn for sure is to try, so I'm just delaying the inevitable by not trying My previous comp exp before splatoon was an occasional ygo locals but I've always been a hardcore spike mindset wise
