“Caveat stacking” is an excellent, dismayingly useful term. Inoculating against predictable bad-faith responses can easily turn into a way of pre-legitimizing those bad-faith responses.

For the nerds: exciting changes/additions to the 18th ed. include explicit inclusion of and guidance for the use of Indigenous languages.
