i kind of want it now, if only to see what the update of this JD Vance tweet looks like but for Call of Duty

yeah kinda the apotheosis of this is the modern CoD games, which have photorealistic graphics and also are written under such constraints that you'd be forgiven for assuming the writers literally do not know what like 'armies' or 'countries' are, on like a very basic conceptual level

Day Of The Soldado marked a decline of Sheridan’s output in a few ways, but a major one for me is that if Alejandro had been a character in the Westerns Sheridan clearly reveres, that act would have been portrayed as horrific and beyond the pale, demanding death in turn or revulsion and exile.

As an aside, it is also still insane to me that Alejandro gets lionized and given the ”he’s better than me” treatment by Graver and a whole surrogate daughter arc in Day Of The Soldado when we literally see him murder two children to twist the knife for all of 30 seconds.

This is even stranger because Sicario, as cinematic influences go, is pretty fucking bleak and ends with Alejandro murdering two children and an innocent woman to inflict a few seconds of agony on his target. Yet MW2 pulls even more punches than 1 (which ultimately didn't fully commit either).
