Just AWS, deploying with Kamal, provisioned with TF. It’s been…interesting. Leaning on the LLMs made TF possible and only then because I have enough AWS experience. Just overprovisioning which is still cheaper than Heroku. We miss Judoscale though 🥲

Capitalising the words doesn’t make it any clearer or a good idea.

We do both: merging to main auto-deploys to both. We use staging more for trying and testing existing behaviour without polluting production data. If a chenge needs more specific QA and testing we normally do that with review apps before merge.

Do you ever hotfix? We have a dev environment but it gets used for big feature testing. And then we hotfix into prod for little things. Deployment is a weak spot for me…curious for what you’ve learned.

I don't know how you could really operate without one, even if you lack a QA team you want to be sure that everything deploys correctly and migrations run correctly in something that works basically like production.
