Literally most of the shows we grew up with, our parents grew up with, all the way back to our grandparents- a lot of TV is ads! Kids TV as an ad for toys, night time talk shows used to be explicitly ads for whatever product their sponsor of the week was!

It's, funny enough, what got Young Justice killed the first time around. Part of the issue with it, although it was doing really well in ratings, total viewership and kids demos, the problem is the "specific" sub demo that it was doing best in, was girls. Executives didn't like this because>
Show Postin their words, girls "don't buy toys", if I recall. It's weirdly one of the major reasons it got it killed. A lot of shows relied on merchandise and such to keep it afloat, even beyond just the ratings.
