A reminder that Russia’s economy is roughly the size of Texas’s. The United States spent trillions confronting Soviet imperialism during the Cold War. Russia lost. Decisively. There is no reason whatsoever for the US govt to fawn over Putin and treat Russia as though it were America’s equal.

On day 1 of our international conference in Leipzig, the keynote by @kai-arzheimer.com illuminated the transnationalism of the AfD; subsequent panels explored European chapters of the KKK after WW2, transatlantic ties of the German far-right & transformations of the French far-right electorate.

It's been Reform's policy to "suspend" the asylum system for at least a year, and you'd expect, given their puppyish enthusiasm for reporting everything Nigel Farage says, that someone at the BBC would point this out rather than suggesting this is a new "announcement"

Respect: Today, on the day of a 2019 shooting near a Synagogue in Halle, Germany, a Jewish youth organisation made a human chain around the Synagogue, and stopped people from entering who wanted to use the shooting commemoration for "political theatre", including the state AfD member of parliament.
